  5. WHO KID'S GAME IS FOR:
  6.  
  7. Any child learning to spell. Kid's Game contains only basic words such
  8. as "cat", "man", "tree", etc.
  9.

  11. INSTRUCTIONS:  
  12.  
  13. Only a mouse is needed to play Kid's Game! No keyboard input is required.
  14. Have your child click the mouse on any one of the six pictures on the
  15. left of the screen. Then have your child click on the matching word on 
  16. the right of the screen. That's all there is to it! The talking face at 
  17. the bottom right of the screen will inform your child as to whether the
  18. choice was right or wrong.
  19.  
  20. Clicking on the ARROW icon at the top right of the screen cycles through
  21. the "pages" of the game. The fully-functional version has eight separate
  22. pages, each with six pictures.
  23.  
  24. Clicking on the FACE icon that appears next to the ARROW icon opens up a
  25. dialog that gives you talking face options. The fully-functional version
  26. has six different faces, not just the elephant. Your child simply clicks
  27. a face. The dialog will disappear and the face your child clicked on will
  28. appear in the lower right of the screen in place of the elephant.

  30. The Options menu allows you to change the way the words on the right of 
  31. the screen are displayed. You may choose uppercase or lowercase.
  32.  
  33. So that your child does not accidently bring up interfering Desk Accesories,
  34. DA's have been disabled.

  37. PURCHASING KID'S GAME:
  38.  
  39. There are two versions of Kid's Game available, both are described below.
  40.  
  41. KID'S GAME (standard version) - contains eight (8) pages of pictures, each
  42. page having 6 pictures for a total of 48 pictures. Each page has six 
  43. pictures and the six corresponding words. Clicking the ARROW icon cycles 
  44. you through the pages. This version contains six talking faces to choose
  45. from. The face can be changed at any point in the game. There's an 
  46. elephant, clown, lion, and three others. The cost of this version is $11.95.

  48. KID'S GAME (personalized version) - Kid's Game can be personalized! If you
  49. send along a disk with your own bitmap images, they will be included in
  50. a version of Kid's Game just for you! You may send in as few or as many as
  51. you like, up to 48 pictures. We'll put six pictures on each page, along with
  52. the corresponding words. You can have up to eight pages. The cost of this
  53. version is $22.95. Details for creating bitmap images are on the next page.

  57. IDEAS FOR A PERSONALIZED VERSION:
  58.  
  59. Use a paint/draw program to draw likenesses of you and your other family
  60. members. We'll put these on a page or pages, along with the names you
  61. provide ("MOM", "DAD", "BROTHER", or sibling names "JOE", "SUE", etc.).
  62. You can also send scanned images of people.
  63.  
  64. Send ethnic or religious bitmapped pictures. "Theme" pages can be made for
  65. various holidays or events. This will teach your child the spelling of words
  66. that he or she might not see often.
  67.  
  68. If your child is having trouble spelling particular words, send bitmapped
  69. images of pictures that represent those words.
  70.  
  71. Foreign languages - teach your child the spelling of simple foreign language
  72. words. Send pictures, along with the proper spelling of the words 
  73. associated with each picture. Any language will work - be sure to include
  74. correctly spelled words!

  77. INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBTAINING BITMAPPED IMAGES:

  79. Kid's Game uses PICTs. These are bitmapped images. Bitmaps can be in color
  80. or black and white. The following are some ways that you can obtain bitmapped
  81. images to be used in a custom copy of Kid's Game:
  82.  
  83. 1). Draw or paint any small pictures you desire, using ANY paint or draw 
  84.     program that you have. Use the programs "COPY" to copy each picture
  85.     into the Scrapbook. You can make the selection rectangle around a picture
  86.     any size you want. We'll crop it down to size. When you have all the 
  87.     images you want in your Scrapbook, open (double click) your System Folder.
  88.     In there you'll find a file called Scrapbook File. Copy it to another
  89.     disk. We will extract the PICTs from this file. This is the preferred
  90.     method.

  92. 2). Use a paint or draw program to draw small pictures. Save and copy each
  93.     document to a disk. Using this method you may use any one or more of the
  94.     following programs: Fullpaint, MacPaint, MacDraw, Canvas DA, Pixel Paint.
  95.  
  96. 3). Send copies of public domain clip art that you already have. These can
  97.     be Fullpaint, MacPaint, MacDraw, Canvas DA, Pixel Paint documents. Or 
  98.     copy them to the Scrapbook and send the Scrapbook File, as in Method 1.

  100. 4). If you have a scanner, scan images that you want. Bring these images 
  101.     into the Scrapbook File and copy it to a disk.

  105. OVERALL INSTRUCTIONS (FOR PERSONALIZED VERSION)
  106.  
  107. 1). Create bitmapped images. Copy them to a disk, preferably by means of
  108.     the Scrapbook File. Send up to 48 pictures. If you send less, we will
  109.     add the remaining amount of pictures to fill up eight pages, unless
  110.     you specify that you want only your pictures used.
  111.  
  112. 2). Include either a text file or a hand written list of the words that 
  113.     are to be associated with all of the pictures. For foreign language
  114.     words, be sure to include correct spelling!
  115.  
  116. 3). If you have an arrangement preference (what pictures are grouped
  117.     together), fill in the bottom of this page.
  118.  
  119. 4). Send $22.95 check or money order per version.
  120.  
  121. List the picture grouping that you prefer for the pictures you send. There
  122. will be six pictures per page. Fill in the correct number of pages.
  123. Example: If you send in 18 pictures, fill in Page 1, Page 2, and Page 3.
  124.          Leave the lines of Page 4, Page 5, and Page 6 blank.
  125. If you have no preference of picture layout, leave all pages blank. If you
  126. send less than 48 pictures, we will add the remaining amount of pictures to 
  127. fill up eight pages, unless you specify that you want only your pictures used.
